Prices depend on where you are; the week costs about the same everywhere. A pass starts when you pay, and more time bought while one is running is added to the end. Fair use is up to ten essays a day, so that one account cannot serve a whole class. By buying, you agree to our terms.
Passes, in detail
What a pass covers, when it ends, and why the price depends on where you are.
What does a pass cover?
Every Task 1 and Task 2 essay you send while it runs, marked in full: a band for each of the four criteria with the reason behind it, and every error marked with a correction. Send as many as you like, revised versions included, up to ten a day so that one account cannot serve a whole class.
When does it start and end?
The moment you pay. A week runs 7 days, a month 30 and three months 90. Buy more time while a pass is running and it is added to the end, so nothing is lost. Your dashboard shows the end date, and sets it against your test date if you have given one.
What is free?
Every account gets one free essay, once. It never expires. If a marking fails, the essay does not count. Every Listening and Reading paper is free, with or without an account.
What if I send an essay without a pass?
Once your free essay is used, you can still send essays. Each one is marked straight away and kept for you, and any pass opens it, with every essay you send while the pass runs. The writing page tells you before you send. Up to three can wait at once.
Is there a subscription?
No. You pay once and nothing renews. When a pass ends, buy more time if you need it, or stop.
Why does the price depend on my country?
So that a pass costs about the same share of local prices wherever you are. The country is taken from where you connect from when you sign up. The week is $3 everywhere.
Which currency do I pay in?
US dollars, as shown here. Learners in Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and China see and pay prices in dong, tenge, som or yuan; everyone else pays in US dollars. Payment is by card, taken by Stripe, and in China by Alipay or WeChat Pay as well. Your bank may add its own fee for paying a company abroad, even in your own currency.
Can a teacher buy passes for a class?
Yes, as codes: from five to a hundred at a time, 20% off. Each code is one pass for one learner, who signs in and enters it to start it, and the teacher can see which codes have been used. They are on the page "Passes for your students".
What about essay ideas?
The idea generator is free to try: three in total on a free account, and five a day while you have a pass.
