How should it play?

Exam conditionsPlays once, start to finish, on the real test's timeline: time to read before each part, half a minute to check after it, two minutes at the end. No pause, no rewind.PracticePause, rewind and play a part again as much as you like, read the script as it is spoken, and check your answers as you go. The clock counts up rather than down, and nothing is handed in for you.

The recording sets the pace from the moment you press the button. Nothing plays until you have had time to read.
